چکیده
in order to study the effect of flaming on seed viability of sinapis arvensis l., changes in microorganisms population and physicochemical characteristics of soil after canola (brassica napus l.) harvesting, an experiment was carried out based on randomized complete block design with four replications and eight treatments at karaj research center, iran, during 2005- 2006. after harvesting canola at the end of spring, wild mustard seeds were distributed evenly on the surface of the soil. in some plots, canola stubbles were left on the ground and in some plots canola stubbles were taken off. under this condition, the following treatments were applied: flaming under wet and dry soil condition, burning stubbles under wet and dry soil condition. in other plots canola stubbles were taken off the plots and then flaming was applied under wet and dry soil conditions. check plots did not receive any treatment. results indicated that all treatments reduced seed viability, and the highest loss in seedling density occurred in the flaming treatment on dry-soil. flaming did not have any serious affect on soil microorganisms or on its other physiochemical aspects, however dry-soil treatments proved the safest.

Effect of seed storing temperature on germination of wild mustard (Sinapis arvensis) seeds
Seed dormancy of wild mustard (Sinapis arvensis) could be changed through seed storing. The seeds were collected from four regions: Fars, West Azarbaijan, Khuzestan and Mazandaran provinces. They were stored at three different temperatures (-18, +3 and 22-25°C) for 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 months. They were then put under suitable condition for germination. Mean germination time for seeds was measure...
متن کاملSeed dormancy is modulated in recently evolved chlorsulfuron-resistant Turkish biotypes of wild mustard (Sinapis arvensis)
Biotypes of the broad-leaved wild mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.) found in wheat fields of Aegean and Marmara region of Turkey were characterized and shown to have developed resistance to sulfonylurea (chlorsulfuron), an inhibitor of acetolactate synthase (ALS). DNA sequence analysis of the ALS genes from two such resistant ("R") biotypes, KNF-R1 and KNF-R2, revealed point mutations, CCT (Pro 197...
متن کاملAssessment of Wild Mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.) Resistance to ALS-inhibiting Herbicides
There is an urgent need for rapid, accurate, and economical screening tests that can deter‐ mine if weeds surviving a herbicide application are resistant. This chapter describes de‐ velopment and application of a simple root length bioassay technique for detection of wild mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.) resistance to ALS-inhibiting herbicides. This bioassay was performed in 2-oz WhirlPak® bags fi...
متن کاملMetabolism-based resistance of a wild mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.) biotype to ethametsulfuron-methyl.
Under controlled-environment conditions, ethametsulfuron-methyl doses that inhibited growth by 50% (ED(50)) were >100 and <1 g of active ingredient (ai) ha(-)(1) for ethametsulfuron-methyl-resistant (R) and -susceptible (S) wild mustard, respectively. There were no differences between the two biotypes with regard to absorption and translocation of the herbicide. Three days after treatment, appr...
متن کاملeffect of nitrogen rates on canola (brassica napus l.) and wild mustard (sinapis arvensis l.) competition
in order to study the effects of wild mustard density on grain yield and yield components of canola cv. hyola 401 under different rates of nitrogen fertilizer, a field experiment was conducted in 2011-2012. the layout was split-plot in a completely randomized block design and three replications. main-plots included four levels of nitrogen (0, 70, 140 and 210 kg ha-1) and sub-plots consisted of ...
متن کاملEFFECTS OF TEMPERATURE AND LIGHT ON DIFFERENT WILD MUSTARD (SINAPIS ARVENSIS) ECOTYPES GERMINATION
In order to investigate light and temperature effects on germination of different ecotypes of wild mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.), seeds were collected from four regions: Fars, West Azarbayjan, Khouzestan and Mazandaran Provinces. Seed size and weight, difference of dormancy state among the ecotypes, seed germination in differential light and temperature conditions were studied. The results sho...
